The Merced County Board of Supervisors will hold its final redistricting public hearing at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021 in the Board Chambers at 2222 M St. in Merced as well as over Zoom (details below).

During the public hearing, the Board will review additional and revised draft maps and select a final map for adoption.

Merced County received 10 additional map submissions from the public before the 5 p.m. deadline on Nov. 23, 2021. All of the draft maps are available on the County’s redistricting website at DrawMercedCounty.org/Draft-Maps.

Merced County community members are encouraged to review the maps and provide feedback to the Board of Supervisors during this fourth and final public hearing. To submit a public comment prior to the meeting, please email Redistricting@countyofmerced.com or visit DrawMercedCounty.org/Contact.

Since June 2021, the Merced County Board of Supervisors has hosted three public hearings and two community workshops on redistricting to gather input from residents on how district boundaries should be redrawn based on the State-adjusted 2020 Census data.

During the third public hearing, the Board of Supervisors was presented with the first round of draft district maps, 10 of which met all of the redistricting requirements. The Board reviewed and discussed each of these maps using the interactive review map and directed the County’s demographer to make adjustments to maps d71151 and NDC 101 and to re-present NDC 103 as is. The adjusted maps and NDC 103 will be brought back for consideration at the Dec. 7, 2021 public hearing. A recording of the meeting is available on the County’s website.
